TOMS RIVER – Ocean County Library will host two programs about stress and anger in teens’ lives and how they can deal with it before it adversely affects them
Licensed clinical psychologist and certified substance abuse counselor James J. Crist will examine how stress effects teens in school and at work, and their relationships with family and friends during his “Teens and Stress” workshop.
Left untreated, stress can also cause serious health problems.
He will discuss the causes of stress in teens and present coping strategies they can use to overcome it.
“Teens and Stress” will be held at the Brick branch Tuesday Oct. 6. A session with Crist and teens only will begin at 6 p.m. One with adults only will begin at 7 p.m.
Crist will address teens’ anger management issues Wednesday Oct. 7 at the Toms River branch in a workshop based upon his book, “Mad! How to Deal With Your Anger and Get Respect.” A teens-only program will begin 6 p.m. and an adult-only program will begin at 7 p.m.
The workshop will help teens understand how anger affects their body and their interpersonal relationships. He will present tools and strategies to help them control their anger and avoid poor decisions and actions.
These programs are free and open to the public. Registration is required. For more information or to register, go to the Web site www.theoceancountylibrary.org or call (732) 349-6200.
