4 items from Stafford: Master Gardeners; “Pieces of April”; computer training; Knit & crochet groups


The Stafford branch of the Ocean County Library will present the program: “Fall – The Time To Get Your Garden Ready For Spring,” on Monday, November 9th, 2009 at 2:00 PM. TheMaster Gardener Association of Ocean County will present the program. Learn what you can do right now so that your garden will wake up refreshed and invigorated in the spring. Master gardeners have the knowledge and the tips. You will also learn how you can become a Master Gardener.


MANAHAWKIN -Join us at the Stafford Branch of the Ocean County Library on Saturday, November 14th at 2:00 PM for our feature film “Pieces of April,” a comedy about a woman who invites her dysfunctional family to Thanksgiving dinner. Rated PG-13. 2003.

Our family movie, “Monsters vs. Aliens,” will be held on Saturday, November 21st, at 2:00 PM. A motley group of monsters band together to fight off aliens who want to destroy the world. Animated. Rated PG. 2009.


 MANAHAWKIN – Join us at the Stafford branch of the Ocean County Library  Thursday, November 19 to “Sharpen Your Computer Skills.” Learn how to navigate the Web efficientlyand Internet safety and security. Learn how to set up and retrieve folders and files, and more. You must have mouse and basic Internet skills. There will be a half hour of presentation of the material, and the rest of the time will be practical hands-on and questions. This is a perfect opportunity to build computer confidence in a world that keeps telling us to “check our website.”


MANAHAWKIN – The Stafford branch of the Ocean County Library will host the program  “String of Purls” on Saturday, November 21st at 10:30 AM. Whether you’re just learning to knit, crochet, embroider, etc., already know how, or want to know what a “purl” is, join our group where experts will be available to answer your questions. Find that creative streak you know you have with this craft that has recently enjoyed an explosion of interest. For beginners, bring size 10 knitting needles and light-colored 4-ply worsted yarn. To crochet, bring the same type of yarn, and a size “I” crochet hook. If you’re more advanced, bring the project you’re working on.  This is also an excellent way to exchange ideas.

The Stafford branch is located at 129 N. Main St. in Manahawkin. This program is free and open to the public. Please register by calling the branch at (609) 597-3381, registering online at http://www.theoceancountylibrary.org or in person.
