English writer and singer of comedic songs Neil Innes will perform at the Toms River branch of the Ocean County Library, 101 Washington Street, Sunday April 11 at 2 p.m.
He has performed internationally on stage and television.
Innes has collaborated with Monty Python alums Terry Jones and Eric Idle on various projects, including the project for which he is probably best known, the loving but dead-on Beatles parody, “The Rutles.”
Innes has often been referred to as the seventh Python and is the subject of the 2008 musical documentary film “The Seventh Python.” The film, which won several awards, examines the career, music and philosophy of Innes.
Probably the most important figure in British musical comedy since the heyday of vaudeville, Innes is that rarity among musical comedians who can deliver side-splitting satire and yet write perfectly straightforward, catch pop songs, such as those he has performed with the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band.
