MANCHESTER BRANCH LIBRARY TO SHOW, “STORM”

MANCHESTER – The Manchester Library will screen, “Storm” on Wednesday, May 19, at 2:00 p.m. and again at 6:00 pm. See this popular foreign film on a large screen without paying the admission fee of a movie theater!

Hannah Maynard, prosecutor at the International Criminal Tribunal in The Hague, is leading a trial against a former commander of the Yugoslavian National Army who is accused of killing of dozens of Bosnian-Muslim civilians. When a key witness commits suicide, it seems like the case will unravel. However Hannah refuses to give in. She contacts his sister, Mira, who despite threats of violence, reluctantly agrees to testify at The Hague. She and Hannah risk life and limb to make it to the court, only to discover that there are traitors among their own ranks.

The dialogue is English. It is part of the library’s monthly Independent Film Series. Registration is not required. This program is open all ages although it is geared toward adults.

MANCHESTER BRANCH LIBRARY TO HOST BOOK CAFE

MANCHESTER – On Monday, May 24 the Manchester branch library will be holding its monthly book café from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. Join us as we discuss what we’ve been reading, play literary games, and enjoy light refreshments. Share with others about good books that you’ve recently read and pick up suggestions of what to read next.

Manchester Branch Library to Host Nutrition Seminar for Seniors

MANCHESTER, NJ- On Tuesday May 25 at 2:00 pm at the Manchester branch library, Ron Hyland will share nutrition and exercise tips to help seniors keep fit and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Ron Hyland is the Fitness Director for Keswick Pines in Whiting and a frequent speaker throughout the community on topics pertaining to senior health and wellness.

“YOUNG VICTORIA”

MANCHESTER – The Manchester branch library will screen the film, “Young Victoria” on Wednesday, May 26, at 2:00 p.m. and again at 6:00 pm. See this popular drama on a large screen without paying the admission fee of a movie theater!

This movie dramatizes the turbulent first years of Queen Victoria’s (Emily Blunt) rule, and her enduring romance with Prince Albert (Rupert Friend). At the age of 17, Victoria was already the object of a royal power struggle as she was in line for the throne and everyone was vying to win her favor.

This PG-rated movie is part of the library’s Feature Film Series. Although registration is not required, early arrival is recommended.
