MANCHESTER LIBRARY TO SHOW
“LEAP YEAR”

MANCHESTER – The Manchester Branch Library will screen the film, “Leap Year” on Wednesday, July 7, at 2:00 p.m. and again at 6:00 pm. See this popular romantic comedy on a large screen without paying the admission fee of a movie theater!

When their four-year anniversary passes without a marriage proposal, Anna (Amy Adams) decides to invest in an Irish tradition that allows women to propose to men on February 29th. When she follows her boyfriend to Dublin for this purpose, her plane is diverted so she enlists the help of a surly Irish innkeeper, Declan (Matthew Goode), to taxi her to Dublin to pull off the proposal in time. However, she makes a connection with Declan and begins to question whether she wants to go ahead with her original plan.

This PG-rated movie is part of the library’s Feature Film Series. Although registration is not required, early arrival is recommended.

MANCHESTER BRANCH LIBRARY TO
CELEBRATE THE 1970’S DECADE

MANCHESTER, NJ – On Saturday, July 10 the Manchester Branch Library will host a two-part musical tribute to the 1970’s. At 2:00 pm, Neal and Joel from the band “Strictly 60’s” will sing and play hits from the 70’s. Following the performance, “DJ Lou” will MC an hour of 70’s karaoke starting at 3:00 pm.

MANCHESTER – The Manchester Branch Library will screen the film, “Nine” on Wednesday, July 14, at 2:00 pm and again at 6:00 pm. See this popular musical drama on a large screen without paying the admission fee of a movie theater!

Arrogant, self-centered movie director Guido Contini (Daniel Day-Lewis) faces a double crisis: he has to shoot a film for which he can’t write the script, and his wife of twenty years may about leave him if he can’t pay more attention to the marriage. As his chaotic profession steadily destroys his personal life, Guido must find a balance between creating art and succumbing to its obsessive demands.

MANCHESTER BRANCH LIBRARY TO SHOW,
“THE WIND JOURNEYS”

MANCHESTER – The Manchester Library will screen, “The Wind Journeys” on Wednesday, July 21, at 2:00 p.m. and again at 6:00 pm. See this popular foreign film on a large screen without paying the admission fee of a movie theater!

Ignacio is an elderly musician, traveling through northern Colombia playing his accordion, which according to superstition once belonged to the devil. When his wife passes away, Ignacio makes a final trip to return the accordion to its rightful owner, kept company by a restless young teenage fan who seeks to learn the magic and mystery of music. Together the two of them learn what life and their country has to offer.

The dialogue is in Spanish with English subtitles. It is part of the library’s monthly Independent Film Series. Registration is not required. This program is open all ages although it is geared toward adults.

MANCHESTER LIBRARY TO SHOW
“THE LAST STATION”

MANCHESTER – The Manchester Branch Library will screen the film, “The Last Station” on Wednesday, July 28, at 2:00 p.m. and again at 6:00 pm. See this popular biography/ drama on a large screen without paying the admission fee of a movie theater!

Set in the last tumultuous years of his life, it illustrates famed Russian author Leo Tolstoy’s struggle to balance fame and wealth with his commitment to a life devoid of material things. Caught in the middle of a struggle between his wife and his leading disciple, he attempts to flee from home, unsuccessfully because he is too ill. While he believes he is dying alone, unbeknownst to himself, over one hundred reporters are camped outside his door awaiting hourly updates on his condition.

This R-rated movie is part of the library’s Feature Film Series. Although registration is not required, early arrival is recommended.
