STRING OF PURLS – KNIT AND CROCHET GROUP

MANAHAWKIN – The Stafford branch of the Ocean County Library will host the program – String of Purls on Thursday, Dec. 2nd from 1:00 – 3:00 PM, and Saturday, Dec. 18th from 10:30 – 12:30. Whether you’re just learning to knit, crochet, embroider, etc., already know how, or want to know what a “purl” is, join our group where experts will be available to answer your questions. Find that creative streak you know you have with this craft that has recently enjoyed an explosion of interest. For beginners, bring size 10 knitting needles and light-colored 4-ply worsted yarn. To crochet, bring the same type of yarn, and a size “I” crochet hook. If you’re more advanced, bring the project you’re working on. This is also an excellent way to exchange ideas.

The Stafford branch is located at 129 N. Main St. in Manahawkin. This program is free and open to the public. There is no need to register. If you have questions, call the branch at (609) 597-3381, or visit our website at http://www.theoceancountylibrary.org

INSULATION: SAVING MONEY ON HEATING YOUR HOME

MANAHAWKIN – The Stafford branch of the Ocean County Library is presenting: Insulation: Saving Money on Heating Your Home on Thursday, December 9th from 2:00 – 3:00 PM. Alper Senman – an inspector with Terminix – will show you how to save up to 32% on your energy bills this winter with insulation. Official statistics estimate that the average home wastes hundreds of dollars worth of energy a year. Much of this is preventable by addressing the areas where heat escapes from our homes and by putting in place some simple solutions. As we make the transition into winter and begin using our heating more and more, there really is no better time to make those improvements.

Please register by calling the branch at (609) 597-3381, registering online at http://www.theoceancountylibrary.org or in person. If you have any questions, call the branch for specific information.

THE BED BUG EPIDEMIC

MANAHAWKIN – The Stafford branch of the Ocean County Library will present the program: The Bed Bug Epidemic on Thursday, December 9th from 3:00 – 4:00 PM. Alper Senman – an inspector with Terminix – will explain how to keep these pests from invading your home, and what to do about it if they do. Across the country, bed bug infestations are becoming so common that exterminators can barely keep up. The bugs have nothing to do with cleanliness. They are small parasitic insects, can live up to a year without feeding, and live by feeding exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals. Their preferred habitat is houses, especially beds where people sleep. They are nocturnal for the most part, and can feed unnoticed on their hosts.
The Stafford branch is located at 129 N. Main St. in Manahawkin. This program is free and open to the public. Please register either in person, by phone, or online. For more information contact the library at (609) 597-3381, or visit the library’s website at http://www.theoceancountylibrary.org
