TOMS RIVER –   The Brick branch of the Ocean County Library, 301 Chambers Bridge Rd., will host the National Alliance on Mental Illness program “Understanding Youth and Adolescents with Mental Health Challenges” Tuesday Nov. 24 at 6:30 p.m.

A representative from NAMI-NJ will tell how people can differentiate between typical childhood and adolescent angst, and mental illness.  People will learn about the symptoms and causes of mental illness, effective treatments to deal with it and resources that are available to the child’s caregivers.

The program is free and open to the public.  Information and registration for the program can be found at the library’s Web site www.theoceancountylibrary.org or by speaking to an operator at (732) 477-4513.

Mental illness affects one in five people and has no regard for age, gender, race, culture or socio-economic status.
